TOUR TYPES
SEMI GUIDED NGILGI SHOW CAVE TOUR
Explore the ancient wonders of Ngilgi Show Cave at your own pace. Semi guided tours of the main Show Cave are conducted every half an hour throughout the day. Your Tour Guide will meet you at a covered outdoor-interpretive area and provide you with an interesting overview of the caves in our region. Your Guide will then escort you into the Cave and answer your questions before leaving you to explore Ngilgi. Upon entering the Main Chamber you will find another Tour Guide ready to answer your queries and teach you more about the way in which these amazing decorations are formed.
Duration: 1 hour. Departs: Every 30 minutes from 10:00am – 3.30pm daily.
LEGENDS AND LANTERNS TOUR
Discover what Ngilgi Cave must have been like for the first explorers; the Legends and Lanterns Tour is conducted by candle and torch-light, recreating the spirit of the early Cave pioneers. The tour is fully guided and conducted along the main Show Cave route. Share the story of the discovery of the cave as well as the fascinating aboriginal beliefs and legend associated with Ngilgi.
Duration: 1.5 hours. Departs: On demand in morning or evening outside normal opening hours.
ADVENTURE TOURS
Adventure tours include the wildest parts of Ngilgi Cave, regarded by many cavers as the most beautiful sections of cave within the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge. Led by an experienced Cave Guide, you will discover sections not seen by regular Show Cave visitors. It is strongly recommended that our popular Adventure Tours are pre-booked a minimum 48 hours in advance in order to avoid disappointment.
ANCIENT RIVER BED TOURS
Crawl along the path of an Ancient River Bed and experience another dimension of Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park. Turn out the lights and witness the magical quietness and darkness of being sheltered in a completely natural environment 45 metres below the earth’s surface. This tour includes a fully guided tour of the Show Cave and is a great initiation into cave exploration, suitable for ages 10 and up. Basic fitness level required.
Duration: 2 hours. Departs: 9.30am Mon, Wed, Sat. Other times may be available on demand for groups.
THE EXPLORER
Choose your own Adventure! Descend 45m below the earth's surface with your expert Cave Guide and explore the path of an Ancient Riverbed. On your return to the main Ngilgi Show Cave experience your very own adventure by choosing which route through the cave you take to return to your starting point. Each path you take presents a unique opportunity to enoy a different adventure experience. Just like the challenge faced by the earliest Cave Explorers! Suitable for agest 10 and up. Basic fitness level required.
Duration: 2.5 hours. Departs: 9.30am Mon, Wed, Sat. Other times may be available on demand for groups.
CRYSTAL CRAWL TOUR
Be dazzled by incredible stalagmites, stalactites, shawls and column formations as you make your way through the most stunning sections of Ngilgi Cave with our expert cave guide. If you are inspired by beautiful cave scenery and find the sound of cave sections called “Pinch Gut”, “Double Squeeze”, “Pot Belly” and “Crystal Crawl” intriguing, then this tour is for you. Challenge yourself and reap the rewards of your adventurous spirit. Suitable for ages 16 & above. Moderate fitness level required.
Duration: 3 hours Departs: 9.30am Tues, Thur, Sun. Other times may be available on demand for groups.
THE ULTIMATE NGILGI ADVENTURE
Experience everything that awe-inspiring Ngilgi Cave has to offer on The Ultimate Ngilgi Adventure. Challenge yourself and be rewarded for your adventurous spirit and that of the early pioneers as you discover the deepest, darkest and most exclusive depths and sections of Ngilgi Cave. Four hours later and you’ll be wishing you had taken a deeper breath at the entrance! This tour is fully guided by our expert cave guide and takes in the Ancient River Bed and Crystal Crawl routes plus more. Feel a real sense of achievement on completion of this tour and receive a complimentary t-shirt stating “I survived Pinch Gut” - one of the most physical sections on your Ultimate Ngilgi Adventure. Suitable for agest 16 & above. Moderate fitness level required.
